The Clyde Fishermen’s Association has won its three-year battle with the European Commission over an administrative mistake on the number of days that West of Scotland fishing vessels could put to sea in 2007. The error by the EC resulted in the official sanction of a greater cut than there should have been in the number of days that West coast fishing vessels were allowed to fish in that year.

Norwegian Seafood sets export record of NOK 44.7 billion.. 

In 2009, Norwegian Seafood exports totalled NOK 44.7 billion and for the sixth year in a row sets a new seafood export record. Compared with 2008, exports are up by no less than NOK 6 billion, according to figures from the Norwegian Seafood Export Council. The volume of seafood exports totalled 2.6 million tonnes, an increase of 268,000 tonnes compared with 2008. This is equal to 35 million meals of Norwegian Seafood - every day.

17,000 tonne capelin quota for HB Grandi.. 

An initial capelin quota has been set following the results of research by R/V Árni Fridriksson. According to the quota issued by the Ministry of Fisheries, 28.431 tonnes are allocated to Norway, 6500 tonnes to the Faroe Islands and 4290 tonnes to Greenland. This leaves 90,779 tonnes for the Icelandic fleet, of which 16,954 tonnes fall to HB Grandi’s pelagic vessels.
