Fruitful Vine BF240

Macduff delivers new trawler for Nicol Fishing Ltd, Fraserburgh.

John Nicol of Nicol Fishing Ltd will be commanding Fruitful Vine BF240, a replacement of its wooden predecessor of the same name. Fruitful Vine is built as a repeat of the ‘Rebecca’, which was built by Macduff in 2008. Nicol Fishing Ltd will be working through Fraserburgh Inshore Fishermen Ltd.

Fruitful Vine, LOA 21.22metres, has a depth of 3.9metres and a breadth of 7metres. At 191tonnes, it has fuel capacity at 18500 litres and a fresh water capacity of 12000 litres.

The entire vessel was designed and built by Macduff with the exception of the hull fabrication, which was sub-contracted to Aveco (Teeside) Limited.

The Mitsubishi S6R MPTK engine runs with a Reintjes WAF371 reverse reduction gearbox with a 6.12:1 reduction ratio, driving a 1900mm diameter Lips propeller in a Lips fixed nozzle. Fruitful Vine also has Cummins 6CTA 8.3m auxiliary engine on the port side, which will drive hydraulic pumps for the deck machinery. Macduff supplied the Mitsubishi engine.

The deck machinery includes a Macduff drum trawl winch; two Macduff split net drums and a TMA Gibson winch. The fish handling system also comes from Macduff, with fishroom cooling and ice maker from Premier Refrigeration Limited. All wheelhouse electronics were supplied from McMinn Marine Ltd.
