The Faroese fleet has seen the new Tróndur í Gøtu join its pelagic fleet. This new vessel is a replacement for an older vessel of the same name, which has itself been renamed the Pacific Hunter. Karstensens Skibsværft of Skagen, Denmark, built Tróndur í Gøtu and the design was by Vik & Sandvik. Vinnan, the company operating from Gøta, name Tróndur í Gøtu after the 11th century hero from the village. This new vessel, built as a classic pelagic trawler, can accommodate up to 16 people.
The new Tróndur í Gøtu has a LOA of 81.6m, a beam of 16.6m and a depth to main deck of 7.2m. The fuel capacity is 600m3 and fresh water is 60m3. The RSW tanks can hold 2700m3.
The top speed is 17.5 knots coming from the main engine, a 6000kW Wärtsilä 12V32 driving a 4000mm diameter. The auxiliary engines are also from Wärtsilä and are an 1100kW 6L20, a 1450kW 8L20 and a 300kW 300HS harbour set.

Vónin provided the fishing gear. The full set included purse seines, made by Vónin staff in co-operation with the Garware Wall net loft in India. The new Vónin 1856 metre herring trawl in hex mesh, with the large meshes spliced in Euronete’s new generation Super 12 double braided rope will supplement the blue whiting trawls form the old Tróndur í Gøtu,
A pair of 74m herring codends and a FlexiGrid sorting section are part of the package and Vónin also supplied 1400m of purse wire while Tróndur í Gøtu’s 14m2 Injector Stealth F15 trawl doors are hung on Dynex Warps from Hampidjan with 2300m of 42mm rope on each drum.
Rolls- Royce and Triplex supplied the deck equipment. Rolls- Royce supplied the 72t trawl winches; Tróndur í Gøtu is the second vessel that Rolls- Royce fitted with frequency converters to adjust the oil flow to the winches. This reduces fuel consumption in better weather. They also supplied the mooring winches, anchor windlass, along with the 31t purse winches, 72t net drums, a 49t tail end winch, a 49t mid-line winch with a radio control unit, a net sounder winch and an 18t auxiliary winch.
The purse seine handling package comes from Triplex. This includes a type 850500 net hauler with a 25t hauling power and a type NK-7500 net crane with a 6t hauling power, a 6t winch and a 13.50m reach. The intermediate TR-123 roller unit has a 4t hauling power. The main crane is a KN-75 unit with a 5t capacity and a 16m reach. There is also a KN-60 fish pump crane, which has a 3.50t/9.50m winch and an auxiliary 2.50t/8.50m winch. A KN-50 fish pump crane is mounted aft for use when trawling. All the cranes come with remote radio control. The use of synthetic rope instead of steel wire warps means that the drums of the trawl winches have been built specifically to cope with the significantly higher forces generated at the core.
From Triplex also comes the RN-85 ring needle, FLH-122 cork line stacker and the foundation pillar is fitted for a sink line stacker. Triplex supplied the electro-hydraulic power station with six aggregates to provide a total power of 522kW. Control for the trawl winches comes from a Synchro RT autotrawl system with a main control position, with additional control points on deck and at the aft wheelhouse position.
