CHALLENGER FR 90
|
Challenger FR90 begins fishing from Fraserburgh
Challenger FR90 was completed in April this year by Parkol, who
began the build in June of 2009. The steel hulled vessel was
designed by Ian Paton of SC McAllister for owner Alistair Bruce.
The new twin rig trawler will be fishing from her home port of
Fraserburgh, Scotland.

Whitby saw Challenger
launched in the beginning of March, where she was named and
ceremonially launched by Alistair Bruce's granddaughter, Allie
Buchan. Challenger is a replacement for Fuimus LLP's previous
vessel, New Dawn FR470 (LOA 14.95m), a wooden hulled vessel.
Challenger has an overall length of 19m, with a beam of 7m and a
depth of 4.25m. The main engine is a Caterpillar model and the
auxiliary engine is from Mitsubishi. The propellor is has a Lips
nozzle.

The approximate fuel capacity is 18000 litres, with 4000 litre
domestic fresh water capacity and a 10000 litre capacity for water
for ice. The ice locker holds 6 tonnes.
The shelter deck will have the landing derrick, trawl gallows and
aft crane with power block, while the main deck will have integral
gallow arrangement over the net drum space, with forward area to
be non-weathertight aluminum alloy fish handling space with winch
and the ice machine. Below decks will hold accommodation, engine
room and fish room.
