Ervik Havfisken ordered the world's largest line vessel.

The world's largest line vessel will be built for the Norwegian company Ervik Havfisken. The ship will be 60 meters long and 14 meters wide, the price is 175 million NKR.

The new "Frøyanes" is designed by Marin Teknikk, is the sixth time Ervik Havfisken chose the company as a designer for a new building.

There is a strong emphasis on environmental friendliness in all aspects of the ship.
"Frøyanes" will get a diesel electrical propulsion consisting of 2 x 800kW Siemens E. engines, 3 x 6N21AL-GV Yanmar generators with 1067 kW each, and 1 x Scana Volda CPP System.
The diesel engine will be equipped with a cleaning system to reduce NOX emissions, the cooling system will be built with the latest technology to reduce emissions and the hull will be optimized for minimal fuel consumption.

After the design was finished Ervik Havfiske and Marin Teknikk contacted MIL Shipping. They are specialists in finding the right shipyard for a given project. MIL Shipping contacted a number of yards, and after thorough consideration Tersan Shipyard was chosen as the supplier. Two factors were of great importance in the choice of the shipyard. They had to be able to deliver a complete vessel and they had to be able to deliver it on time. Ervik Havfisken chose to have the vessel built in Turkey because of the high prices in Norway.

"Tersan Shipyard met all of our requirements to the letter" says Harlad Fr. Askvig from MIL Shipping to FiskerForum and continues, "we are very pleased with the cooperation with Tersan shipyard. It is a reliable and trustworthy shipyard providing quality products. Another advantage of european shipyards is, that there are no language problems and they are in the same time zone so there is no time shift that hinders the communication between customer and the shipyard," Harlad Fr. Askvig concludes.

Tersan Shipyard has delivered many special ships to countries around the world. The shipyard is not specialized in a certain type of vessel, but builds many different types. This requires a very flexible and adaptable organization. "Frøyanes" is the shipyards' first fishing vessel. "We are pleased that we received your order and wait to get started," says Sakir Erdogan from Tersan Shipyard and continues, "we take pride in delivering a quality product and we are confident that we can solve the task on time."
Tersan Shipyard is located in Istanbul and has both a new building department and a repair department which can handle all types of repairs and renovations.

Tersan Shipyard will deliver the vessel to Norway in September 2011 and the vessel comes complete with the exception of the fishing equipment.
Mustad will install the auto-line-system and the baitsystem.

The boat is equipped with hivebridge and norml hatches for hauling of the longlines.

"Frøyanes" is equipped for processing the fish aboard. It is a modern factory producing finished products for consumers. All products are packed aboard ready for the frying-pan. As the first Norwegian line vessel "Frøyanes" is equipped with a [hermatik] plant. Liver and eggs will be sold as hermatik and canned fish. The parts of the fish can not be used to hermatik is stored in tanks on board. Cargo capacity is 600 tons.

The vessel is equipped for a crew of 28 men. It has a cinema conference room, panoramic view and air conditioning. There will also be classrooms with internet connection for apprentices so they can deliver their homework while on sea. Apprentices will receive a complete training onboard includes processing of fish, fishing equipment and lifesaving. It would also be possible to take an apprentice chef on board.

Ervik Havfisken is a modern company with own sales department and 18 longline vessels with a total catch volume of 20,000 tonnes of white fish and 3,000 tonnes of toothfish. Ten of the vessels are fishing in Norwegian waters and other vessels are operating in Russian and Antarctic waters.
"Cod, haddock and saithe meet the strict MSC and KRAV certifications" says Stig Ervik, and continues "which means better prices for our products".

Ervik Stig is looking forward to get started with this exciting project and putting the ship into service in 2011.
