Rebuilding of HG 350 Luna

"We were interested in more cargo space, greater engine, more bollard pull and better space for the crew, "says Lars Nielsen. His ship, the renovated HG 350 Luna (LOA 28,44m), which began fishing again in the New Year.

The old Luna sailed her last voyage in December 2009 to Hirtshals, where renovations took place. She sailed from the pier in Hirtshals on January 2nd 2010 on her first fishing trip in the Baltic Sea.

Lars Neilsen commented that the ship has been as “ongoing conversion project”.

Luna was originally built in 1998 in Sweden. She fished in Swedish and German waters, until she was bought by Lars Neilsen and sailed to Hirtshals last year. The major rebuilding took place in the Christmas period and was undertaken by Hirtshals in collaboration with an out of town supplier. Luna was rebuilt with 3 RSW-tanks and has also installed a new ice machine, as well as a new at-sea equipment package.

Luna has just spent part of April on the local slipway in Hirtshals, in order to get new nozzle and propeller mounted. The new nozzle and propeller give the ship a bollard pull of 25 tons instead of 19 tons.
