L426 Anders Nees

The newly built L426 - the 285th ship from Vestværftet Shipyard - is ready to start flyshooting.

The Vestværftet shipyard in Hvide Sande, Denmark delivered the ship on friday may 14th to skipper Tonny Nees in Hvide Sande. The ship took it's first tour to Thyboroen on the 15th, before Tonny and his crew began fishing on may 17th.

The considerations behind newbuilding L 426 were quite simple: reduction in fuel consumption and reduction in seadays. "Everything has to be good when we sail fishing - when the weather or prices are bad we'd rather stay in the harbour" says Tonny Nees, who thinks that this approach is better for both himself and his crew.

Tonny has always preferred flyshooting over trawl fishing. His previous boats, the two old Anders Nees from 1982 and 2000 were both flyshooters. "However, we were forced to fish with trawls 75% of the time on the last Anders Nees because of given conditions" says Tonny Nees.

Main dimensions:
Length overal ..............23,10 meter
Length between PP ......19,93 meter
Breadth moulded  ...............7,00 meter
Depth main deck  ...............5,10 meter
Tonnage ........................182 BT.
Capacities:

Fuel Oil   ....... ....................25.000 L
Freshwater...................... 10.000 L
Accommodation  ...............6 persons.

One of the reasons to choose a flyshooter this time was a reduction in fuel consumption of over 50%. "Where the old Anders Nees used 3000 liters fuel per day in trawling, the new Flyshooter uses less than half of that" says Tonny, who also has been professionally guided in choosing a Mitsubishi main engine and a Hundested VP 10 propeller.

His recipe for future fisheries reads as follows: "Fewer days on sea, best possible treatment of the catch and landing of high quality fish" says skipper Tonny Nees, who hopes and believes in the cod quota quietly beeing raised again.

The cooperation with the Vestværftet the other suppliers and partners has been very satisfactory and everything went according to plan and Tonny is very pleased with the new L 426 Anders Nees.
