New ship ready for delivery this week.
 After
satisfactory trials last week, and a few final finishing touches
by the Danish shipbuilders, Hvide Sande Skibs- og Bådebyggeri, the boat
set sail towards the homeport of Klintholm, Denmark. Back in his homeport,
the skipper Hans Henrik Lund Theodorsen, explained that he expects
to commence fishing with the newly built ND 153 “Line Charlotte”
this week.
For the last 12 years the 45-year-old skipper has owned a glass
fibre boat, built in 1986. Although the old boat was well built
and maintained, and in spite of the current economic downturn, the
skipper is looking forward to sailing the new boat with a larger
hold capacity, an improved working environment and increased
comfort.
“A lot has happened since we placed the order for the new boat.
Fishing quotas have been reduced by 39%, and together with the
impact of financial crisis, fish prices are under pressure.”
Despite this there is a distinct air of optimism. “There have been
good and bad times before in the fishing industry – the good times
will return.”
The ship usually sails with a crew of three. The boat will be
fishing in the Baltic for herring and cod for human consumption.
The old “Line Charlotte” ship has been sold, transferred to a new
owner, and will be re-registered with a new name and number,
sailing from Kerteminde.
