RI 568 Jette Mona
Combined shrimper and two trawl fishingvessel

Last Friday was RI 568 Jette Mona baptized. The ship will be handed over to skipper Verner Møller this week, Verner Møller also owns the main part of RI 469 Juli-Ane.

The ships RI 409 Karen Kinch, H 276 Savannah, RI 268 Jette Mona II and RI 568 Juli-Ane II have all been scrapped for the FAS2 package. The skipper recieved a grant for the scrapping of the old ships which was reinvested in the fishery. One year after his order Verner Møller got the newly built ship
nr.286 from the Vestværftet Shipyard.

"We ordered a new vessel to better our business. Because of the fuel package FAS2 we were forced to reinvest our government grant in a project with a reduction in capacity and a fuel saving of
minimum 30%" says Fishing skipper Verner Møller.

The ship is equipped for both shrimpfishing and two-trawling. RI 568 Jette Mona will start with trawl fishing and wait until shrimp prices will hopefully get better. "We hope that the prices soon have reached the bottom line and will begin to rise again" says Verner Møller.

The vessel is also a part of the International Cooperation "North Sea MSC", where eight Danish two-trawl vessels have partnered with Dutch trawlers and the company Ecofish. Ecofish are the first to have their fishery MSC certified.

"I hope to get to sail with both ships, if my crew has use for me" says Verner Møller with a smile after a period where most of his business occurred on land, where he closely followed the construction of the new ship. If Verner does not sail RI 568 Jette Mona himself Kristian Villadsen will become skipper on the combined boat.

The Vestværftet shipyard was chosen for two reasons: design and functionality. "When you invest many millions in a project, it is also important that you like the look and design, but of course the ships' functionality comes first" says Verner Møller, who believes that the shipyard manages to achieve the best combination of precisely these factors and he is very pleased with the ship's structure and appearance.
